Environmental fees
1. What they are
Some states fund the collection and recycling of electronic waste through a fee charged when certain devices are sold — the best-known example is California's Electronic Waste Recycling Fee on screens. Where such a fee applies to a product and a shipping address, it is remitted in full to the state program or to the recycling program .
It is neither a tax we keep nor a margin: we retain nothing from that amount.
2. How it is counted
When a fee applies, the displayed price already includes it: nothing is added at payment, and you do not pay a cent more than the amount shown. The amount applicable to each product is recorded line by line on your order.
Fee amounts depend on the category of equipment and on the state, under schedules that are revised periodically. That is why we publish no table here: a fixed table would become wrong at the first revision. To know the amount applied to a specific product, write to [email protected].
3. Sales tax
State and local sales tax depends on the shipping address. The total shown before you confirm payment is the amount charged; where a tax is collected, it appears as its own line on the order summary before payment.
