Recycling your old device

Electronic devices contain materials that should never end up in household trash, and about half of U.S. states have laws restricting their disposal. takes back your old device free of charge: this is our program, offered with every order.

1. One-for-one take-back

When you buy a new device, we take back one used device of an equivalent type, meaning one that serves the same purpose: a smartphone for a smartphone, a laptop for a laptop. One device per product purchased.

The device may no longer work. It does not need to have been bought from us, nor to be the same brand.

2. How to use it

  1. Request the take-back at [email protected], with your order number, at the latest before your order ships.
  2. We send you a prepaid return label and packing instructions.
  3. Drop your old device at the indicated drop-off point within thirty days of delivery. Nothing is charged to you, neither for the take-back nor for shipping.

Selling online, we cannot collect the device in person at delivery: the free return process is the form our program takes for an online retailer.

3. Preparing your device

  • Back up your data: the device will not be returned to you.
  • Perform a factory reset and unlink your account (manufacturer ID, activation lock), otherwise the device can be neither reused nor properly processed.
  • Remove the SIM card and the memory card.
  • Do not remove the battery: built-in batteries are handled by the recycler, and a damaged battery is a hazard in transit.

4. What happens to your device

Devices taken back are handed to the recycling program , with which is registered under . They are directed to reuse when possible, otherwise to safe removal of hazardous components and recycling of materials.

Depending on your state, disposing of electronics in the trash may be prohibited. Local collection events and drop-off points are also free.

5. Without a purchase

Regardless of any purchase, you can drop off used small electronics free of charge at your municipality's collection points or at retailers that accept them. We have no physical store and therefore cannot take back devices outside an order.
